Finding your way
As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world out there! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. Among everything that is going on, it can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.
Because of that CineSud Magazine starts publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.

Dutch Mountain Film Festival

Pleinbioscoop Rotterdam

Festival dates: August 7 - August 25
Pleinbioscoop Rotterdam means nineteen summer nights in the heart of the city and special screenings throughout the year. Special films in a special location. [Read more]
Chicago International Film Festival
Submission deadline: July 8
Festival dates: October 16 - October 27
The Chicago International Film Festival is North America’s longest-running competitive film festival, presented by its parent organization, Cinema/Chicago. Seeking out the best in international cinema, the Festival has discovered new talents and opened windows to a world of film previously or otherwise unavailable in Chicago. [Read more]
Hamburg International Film Festival - Filmfest
Submission deadline: July 15
Festival dates: September 26 - October 5
Filmfest Hamburg is a film festival for the public, frequented by more than 40,000 cinema fans every year. Over the course of ten days in autumn, around 140 national and international feature films and documentaries are shown on eleven screens for their world premiere, European premiere or German premiere. Stockholm International Film Festival
Submission deadline: July 30
Festival dates: November 6 - November 17
Stockholm International Film Festival started in 1990 and is one of the largest cultural events in the Nordic region. During twelve intense days in November the festival presents 150 premieres from more than 60 countries. All together several hundred program items including screenings, seminars , Face2Face, Red Carpet-screenings and parties are organised. [Read more]
Vienna International Film Festival - Viennale
Submission deadline: July 31
Festival dates: October 24 - November 6
The Viennale is Austria’s most important international film event, as well as one of the oldest and best-known festivals in the German-speaking world. Every October, the Viennale takes place in beautiful cinemas in Vienna’s historic center, providing the festival with an international orientation and a distinctive urban flair. [Read more]
