An individually tailored 8-month mentorship program

A new individually tailored 8-month mentorship program CareerLab is ready to offer you this opportunity!
Participation is open for filmmakers from the Netherlands and Dutch-speaking Belgium.
CareerLab
CareerLab gives chance to both writers and producers and consist of two parts:
CareerLab | Script
Career Lab | Script is an 8-month individually tailored mentorship training program with the aim to guide the writers on writing their first feature script/treatment. During the CareerLab | Script the writers work with the one writer coach during live and online sessions on their projects, with individual approach and during 8-month period will:
Either write a treatment from synopsis;
Or rewrite the treatment;
Or write the first draft of the script from treatment.
CareerLab | Producing - General Information
Career Lab | Producing is an 8-month individually tailored mentorship training program with the aim to guide the producers on developing a company profile and (or) their first feature project. During live group and online one-on-one sessions the producers with one coach will work on:
Feature film (fiction/documentary) project;
Creating and developing company profile;
Further development and improvement of existing company.
Are you a script writer?
During an 8-month period you can work either on the development of the treatment or a first draft of your feature script.
What does the program include?
Kick-off Session (4-5 March, Heerlen) & Closing session (November, Heerlen) during which you will have masterclasses & one-on-one meeting with producers;
Three one-on-one sessions with a writing coach during the year to develop treatment/first draft (May, July, September).
What is expected from you?
In order to apply, you need to have at least two short films written and produced that premiered at one of the Dutch festivals;
Time (at least 8 hours a week) to work on your script;
A great regard to the discipline and a great desire to develop your project in a very short amount of time.
Are you a producer (producer group)?
During an 8-month period you can be mentored on how to startup or further develop a production house or a (starting) entrepreneur with a good concept for the distribution of films in the Netherlands.
What does the program include?
Kick-off Session (April, Venlo) & Closing session (November, Heerlen) during which you will have masterclasses & one-on-one meeting with producers;
Three one-on-one sessions with a producer coach during the year to develop the production house (March, May, September, November).
What is expected from you?
In order to apply, you need to have at least two short films produced that premiered at one of the Dutch festivals;
A project in mind or a company profile that you will be working on during the program;
A great regard to the discipline and desire of your project in a very short amount of time.
During the Kick-off session that will take place on April in Venlo you will be invited to the Crossborder Film Conference during which you will have a meet-up with producers from the Netherlands, Germany & Belgium.
During the closing session in November 2022 that will take place in Heerlen during Dutch Mountain Film Festival Industry Day, you will pitch your project/company and will be able to win €1000 for your script development or company development.
Application
The application form is closed. The selected filmmakers will be announced on February 20, 2022.
Program CareerLab 2022
During Crossborder Film Conference the participants will get a chance to present themselves to the producers during networking lunch, attend Euregion Film Pitch and panel discussion on co-production in BeNeLux. During the session filmmakers from the regions will have 10-minutes meetings with the guest producers to discuss their projects and seek advice and/or to simply introduce themselves.
Time Slot: 10:30-16:00.
During the first Group Session the participants (max. 2) of the CareerLab | Script will learn & discuss with the coach the following topics*: idea/premise, structure, character development, synopsis, writing routine & boosting self-confidence. During the second part of the day the coach will analyse the projects of each participant.
In their turn, the participants (max. 2) of the CareerLab | Producing will learn & discuss with the coach the following topics*: creating company profile, business plan, role of the producer, financing possibilities in the Netherlands and Europe, kickstarting a feature film project. During the second part of the day the coach will analyse the projects/company profile of each participant.
*As the CareerLab program is tailored-made the topics of the masterclass-discussion will be changed according to the needs of the participants.
Time Slot: 10:00-17:00
Location: Heerlen, Theater Royal.
During a one-on-one sessions the participant and the coach will work on the project. The topic of the session will be decided according to the needs of the participants in March 2022.

During Dutch Mountain Film Festival Industry Day, the participants will pitch their project/company and will be able to win €1000 for the script development or company development.
During the second Group Session the participants of the CareerLab | Script & Producing will work together with the coach and the group on their company profile/project.
